I have been to Taiwan many times as my wife is Taiwanese. On this trip 2008 we visted the area known as Wulai. It is a beautiful little town surrounded by mountains and the most amazing temple on top of the mountain. You get there by travelling on the most unique railroad seen (takes about 5 minutes from the township) and then by taking the cable car over the valley to the top. After you have visted the mountain top temple you can return to the river and soak in the natural hot springs (the locals bathe in it). The town has one curious aspect. Many of the shops have penis shaped souvenirs, I asked my wife what it was all about and she said fertility. Whilst your there have the fried bees and taste the sticky rice in BAMBOO. Overall a great day.
