Alishan Mountain Railway not safe according to train drivers

Saw todays news on TV:

The Train drivers not happy with the line as they said it was unsafe and the Pins tht hold the wooden sleepers (crossbeams) could be pulled out by hand as the wood had rotted.

The company still insist that they keep running so I%26#39;m not too sure on their safety.

I read the news this morning too, the workers are going on strike after the 17th this month, so chances of the train ceasing the run is high, oh dear, I%26#39;ve a trip planned on the 21st, looks like no more train for us,boo hoo.

The workers are not happy about the unsafe track (they blamed the Hungtu company for bad maintainance since taking over last year)and the proposed pay cut right after the flower season.

The train is still suspended today for inspection and the workers might just hold true to their words by failing to turn up on the 17th March, so those who%26#39;ve bought tix for the Alishan train, please pay close attention to their announcements on the Hungtu website n get a refund online if necessary.Chiayi buses serves this route but as mentioned in a prior post, those planning to go before mid April would best book a seat in advance, it will be very crowded on the weekends.
