taiwan train fare

hi ky_har,

you can try to look into the chinese site : service.tra.gov.tw/tw/ticketprice/Excel.aspx

For english site, i have no idea where to find it.

taiwan train fare

Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA): new.twtraffic.com.tw/TWRail_EN/index.aspx

TRA trains ticket prices: service.tra.gov.tw/tw/ticketprice/excel.aspx

The railway ticket prices can be found in the Chinese version of website, not the English version.

TRA station distances: …tra.gov.tw/tw/CP/11366/mileages-1.aspx

Yes, Chipen is served by railway trains.

Hi,

thanks very much for the info.

For the train class, can i know what each of the 4 type means ?

Which i should i be looking at cos the prices are all different.

Thanks again

Different classes of Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) trains: …wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwan_Railway_Administr…

Tze Chiang (Taroko) and Tze Chiang are the faster and higher class trains. Chu Kuang and Fu Hsing are the slower and more economical trains. DRC (Diesel Rail Car) = Local train (區间車) or sometimes referred to as Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) are commuter trains that stop at almost every station. The seats are to the sides of the train as in MRT train.

There is no difference in train fares for Tze Chiang Taroko and normal Tze Chiang trains.

Reservation / booking of train tickets is for Tze Chiang (Taroko), Tze Chiang, Chu Kuang, Fu Hsing trains only.

Hi,

Thanks again. Read somewhere in the forum that children under 6 travels free on trains if they dont require a seat. Does it apply to both the HSR and the normal rail ?

Anyone knows about buses ? Does the same rule apply ?

thanks

Hi,

For normal rail (TRA), it%26#39;s height that matters, not age. Kids under 115cm: free. 115~145cm: concession tkts for kids. Over 145cm: full price.

For HSR:

';Children whose height is less than 115cm, and children who are more than 115cm in height but less than six years old, may be exempted from tickets with their ID certificates under the circumstances that such children do not take a seat...';

see below website page:

www.thsrc.com.tw/en/ticketing/guide.asp

For metro:

Age under 6 or height under 115cm: free.

For buses:

Depends on height. Not sure about the exact height for differentiation.
