Hualien train tickets

Hi all!

I%26#39;ve tried booking the train tickets to Hualien online (english site) but was unsuccessful.

Can I check if it%26#39;s safe to buy the tickets when I reach Taipei? I%26#39;ll be going Hualien on the 3rd day and it%26#39;s a weekday.. Thanks! :)

Hualien train tickets

Tickets can be booked no sooner than 2 weeks before travel, and must be picked up and paid for (in Taiwan) within 3 days of booking (Day 1 being day of booking). Also, the booking system only works between 6AM - 9PM.

As long as you avoid the Chinese New Year public holidays (the final week of Jan. 2009), you should be okay. School winter break begins on Jan. 20, so that will be a busy time as well.

Hualien train tickets

Thanks alot calicocat! =)

I went to Hualien last week (Mon- Wed) by Zi Qiang Hao 2-way, and there were still many seats available on my train. The ride took ~3h. I think weekdays/non-holidays you should be fine, so no worries! Just go to the train stn counter and ask for the times you want! :) Have fun and start off early at Taroko as nightfall comes very early (before 6pm)!

Hi,

Wonder if it%26#39;s going to be peak period on 28th Dec since it%26#39;s a Sunday? My friends and I are travelling to Hualien from Taipei that morning, planning to book tickets on the Taroko Express 1091 that%26#39;ll depart at 8am and reach HL at about 10.08am.

Also, we%26#39;ll be carrying our luggage with us - any idea if there%26#39;ll be space at the seats to accomodate our bags? ;)

Thanks!

eh.. which English website to book the train tixs ? Thanks !

Hi,

I%26#39;m still a bit confused on the procedure in purchasing the train tickets to Hualien. I listed what I think should be the sequence for purchasing a return train ticket. Please correct me. Thanks a lot!

Step 1: Check the train schedule and get the train code

Step 2: Go to http://railway.hinet.net/etno1.htm (Order Tickets Using Train No.)

Step 3: Choose Departure station (100 - Taipei) and Arrival Station (051 - Hualien)

Step 4: Choose Departure Date and train code no.

Step 5: Click the button and get the order number.

Step 6: Repeat Step 1 to 5 to purchase the return train ticket from Hualien to Taipei.

Step 7: Go to https:/…index.php to make payment using the order numbers and ID

Does it mean that since I have made payment online, I can collect the train ticket anytime, as long as I collect 30min before train departure? The 2-day restriction is for those reservation with no payment made?

Is it possible to collect in Airport?

What do I need to collect the train tickets?

Where can I see the train ticket price? So far, I didn%26#39;t see it from the website.

Does a 13th month old baby need a ticket?

Can someone explain what does the following mean?

去回票須起訖站一致,80公里以內限當日往返

Btw, is it free seating or there will be a pre-allocated seat number when we purchase online? Does it have 1st class or economy class? What%26#39;s the diff?

If you have paid online for your railway train tickets, there is no timeline for collection. You can collect 30 mins before train departure. The 2-day (including day of booking) timeline is for those who booked / reserved tickets without payment. Pay only when collecting tickets by 2300 hrs the next day.

Collection of tickets can be made at any TRA train stations and at any post offices. There are post offices at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (Terminal 1 -- on the south side of the 1st floor departure hall. Terminal 2 -- 3rd floor departure level). For collection of tickets paid online, you would probably need to bring along the printed acknowledgement / receipt showing payment made by credit card and your passport.

Children whose height is less than 115cm, and children who are more than 115cm in height but less than six years old, may be exempted from tickets with their ID certificates under the circumstances that such children do not take a seat, provided that they shall be escorted by passengers who have purchased the full fare tickets or are adults. Children whose height is more than 115cm but less than 145cm, and children who are more than 145cm in height but less than 12 years old, may purchase the children tickets (half price tickets) with their ID certificates.

I’m not good at translation, but I try my best to help. ”去回票須起訖站一致,80公里以內限當日往返” would mean “For trips within 80 km, return tickets without designated seat numbers are valid only on the day of purchase for both trips, returning to the same start point.”

I believe the system pre-allocates a certain number of seats for online booking and online purchase. Station staff will allocate seat numbers when issuing the tickets at the time of your collection. Railway trains, unlike High Speed Rail trains, do not have standard and business class seats.

Thanks a lot! :)
