Hi, new member here.
Just found this board. Kudos to Colicocat and several other regular contributors! Awesome!
I%26#39;ll be in Taipei from 4/8 to 4/22. Those TV show recordings mentioned in another thread sounds very interesting. Maybe I%26#39;ll go check it out.
Since I’ll be cooped up in TP without much chance to see the island, my question is, please name your favorite restaurants and how to get to them if you can.
You people are amazing. I’ve lived in Maryland for over 20 years and still don’t know half about the state as you know about Taiwan.
Warmest Regards,
Jenn
Hi from a new member
Ding Tai Fung at Xin Yi Road is a good start.
Yong Kang Road which is just beside Xin Yi Road is an interesting street.
Shilin Night market food is well known for the XXL Chicken cutlet.
You may want to try Danshui old street.

Welcome to the TW forum, MigratedGamecock, glad to have you join in.
Most of Taiwan is quite accessible from Taipei. Within the Greater Taipei area alone are many places of interest; Taipei County is vast, encompassing Taipei City from the northeast coast to the beaches and mountains near the Yilan border.
For excellent dim sum (ordered from a menu, not from a cart) and other Cantonese fare, try Wakin%26#39;s Kitchen at No. 283 Fuxing S. Rd. Sec. 1, 2F (台北巿復興南路1段283號2樓), a 5-min. walk southeast of the Howard Plaza Hotel. It%26#39;s situated 1.5 blocks south of MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing and about a block north of MRT DaAn.
My favorite market is actually Raohe near SongShan station.
They have so many food to choose from. I start missing it just by thinking of it....
Drooling.........
Hiya,
Calicocat and Mousehunt, your suggestions are much appreciated.
Calicocat, sorry I misspelled your name in the original post. My bad. So, you seem to hint that, I could do more than just sampling the nearby restaurants? I%26#39;ll read up the other threads to get some sightseeing ideas. You are great!
Mousehunt, I totally enjoyed your trip report.
You are bunch of classy guys/gals.
Regards,
Jenn
