Advice needed on how to route jiufen from hualien

Hi,

I%26#39;m leaving hualien and planning to visit the following places :

jiufen, jingguashi, yeliu, danshui and yangmingshan and then taipei.

Pls help to advice at which location i should stay and how i should break them up, cos i%26#39;m not so sure about the buses connecting the places.

Currently, i%26#39;m thinking :

Day 1 : depart hualien by train and stay at ruifang.

Day 2 : visit jiufen, jinguashi and yeliu . Return to taipei to stay

Day 3 : Day trip to yms and danshui, stay in taipei.

1 ) Does this make sense or should i move on to stay at yangminshan on day 2 ? If so, how do i get to YMS from yeliu ?

2) From ruifang, can you advise how i can get to jiufen, and from jiufen/jingguashi to yeliu ?

3) Where is the best base outside of taipei for convenient public transport to see the above places ? Will it be better to stay at jiufen/keelung instead of ruifang?

Having stayed overnights on separate occasions in Jinguashih, Jiufen, Rueifang and Keelung City, I would suggest you consider staying a night in Jiufen.

Jinguashih -- Deserted and quiet in the night with nowhere to go except to nearby Jiufen.

Jiufen -– See the unique townscape, learn about the history, culture and experience the old-fashioned way of life. Shop for local products, try the local snacks. Watch the sun set through the clouds. Dine and drink in the open-air roof terrace of traditional tea houses. Feel the chill of the cool mountain air. Look up at the moon and stars in the quiet of the night. To experience the feel of Jiufen, stay in the homes of the local residents or in one of the many budget hotels.

Rueifang -- Convenience stores, shops, cafes around the railway station.

Keelung City -- Bustling with activities especially at Keelung Miaokou (24 hrs food street) and night market.

Day 1 : Depart Hualien by train and stay at Jiufen (instead of Rueifang). Explore Jiufen;

Day 2 : Visit Jinguashi and check-out Jiufen. Proceed to Yeliu, then to Taipei City to stay overnight;

Day 3 : Day trip to YMS and Danshui.
