Advice on Minsu in Hualien and hotel in Jiaosi

Hi experts, need ur advice on Minsu in Hualien. We, 2 gals, are planning to book Mr Lu for a day trip on 19 Nov and then stay in a minsu in Hualien. On 20 Nov, we will then proceed to Jiaosi for the hotspring and stay one night.

Thinking of instead staying in the Minsu that Mr Lu recommended to us, are there any other Minsu to recommend? Somewhere near train station and night market?

Also, any recommendations for Jiaosi hotels? Royal looks good but too expensive. Any other hotels that allow guests to enjoy the hotspring(both indoor and outdoor)? Want to get similiar experience as what we had in Japan.

Appreciate any advice as we are touring Taiwan for the first time and need any information/advice as much as possible.

thanks.

Advice on Minsu in Hualien and hotel in Jiaosi

Hi tcs,

Think I can give my share of experience with you.

For Jiaosi, did not find alot of information here when we went..so thought of sharing my experience.

Hope its of help.

In Hualien, we booked Mr Lu%26#39;s service too. We stayed at Roseland (think this is the one he recommended to you) This one has a pretty good location, short walks to the nightmarket, nice foods. There is a 7-11 directly underneath Roseland, which is pretty convenient. Another point is...it is has a very relaxing and nice atmosphere..to tell the truth, I am pretty impressed when I reached there. ^_^ stayed for 2 nights.

Another minsu which is quite close to city area..which Mr Lu brought us to play fireworks nearby is 被狼打到 minsu. Looks within walking distance (But should be further than Roseland)...but I am not sure..cos didnt walk before.

For Jiaoxi, we stayed in 叶芝屋 quite a nice place, very near the railway station (5min walk). NT1500 for 3 pax. They gave us a 2 double bed room.

It has a family feel, they are pretty friendly and helpful. The lady boss even lend us their washing machine to wash our clothes FOC, very nice of them. Its a minsu though, not a hotel. But pretty worth for $, place is clean. They have indoor hotspring FOC for first night. Otherwise, you can do it in your room in the bathtub. http://www.yehdewu.idv.tw/content/room.htm

There is a hotel-like one, we found there is another one within walking distance too (10min walk) - Sunspring Resort. We did not stay there but went there for a fishy therapy =p (NT 100 for 30min, can stay longer if there is not many people) The place looks quite nice.http://www.sunspring-resort.com.tw/

Another minsu we have found during research (6 min walk from railway), but we have not went to have a look at the place though. You might want to take this into consideration too. NT1300 per night(Double room)xtra person NT500per pax

As for outdoor hotspring, you might want to take a look at this

Advice on Minsu in Hualien and hotel in Jiaosi

If you have time, you might want to include Luodong (a few railway stops from Jiaoxi, you can take bus from the railway station too, ask around, people there are very helpful). Luodong has a big night market too, nice food there - nice lu rou fan, fried oysters and 虱目鱼porridge.

Another place nearby Jiaoxi which is worth visiting,

Suao. Not sure whether the weather in Nov is too cold for this, you might want to call the cold spring place to ask. In Suao, there is cold spring which is one of the two cold spring in the world (the other is in Italy) It is 22degC. We just came back from it. I won%26#39;t elaborate the experience much (let you experience urself ^^), but its real fun and a different feel from hot spring. Its good for skin too. If the weather permit, I strongly recommend you to go. Book the room one only 40 min, but its enough. You can still go to the outdoor spring area after the 40min. We (3 of us) paid NT450 for the room.

Suao Cold Spring is a 10 mins walk from station. Cross Jungshan Rd in front of Suao Railway Station and walk onto Leng Chuan Road.

Suao Cold Spring No. 4-6 Leng Chuan Road, Suao Township, Yilan County

Tel: (03) 996 0645

Admission: NT70 (Public cold spring pool only)

For your info, We did all this in 1 day. We reached Jiaoxi early in the morning at ~9am, put down our lugguage at 叶芝屋.Then proceed to Suao, Luodong and back to Jiaoxi, ended with an indoor hotspring and fishy spa. Slightly rush, and no time to do outdoor hot spring, but sufficient to finish the above mentioned stuff.

Opps...not sure if I over provided info...seems like I too long-winded le..=p

Anyway, hope it helps. Enjoy!

Thanks DawnGel. Really good info cos I cannot find much info on the forum. I know that there would be others who would be most willing to share these info.

Guess I may stay for 2 nights in Jiaosi since you have given such a vivid description of the various places.

Now I need to redo my travel plans again. will share my experiences after my trip.

Thanks.....

Welcome!

2 nights may be better such that, you can sleep in later...then make your itinery less tight.

Alternatively, you can plan your itinery such a way that your 2nd day in Jiaoxi ends in late noon, then you travel to your next destination in the evening..also can.

For Hualien, I am not sure if you still can do water rafting. If you guys are sporty kind, can try asking about it..but that will take another day in Hualien, its fun though if you have not try rafting before as local says the rapids there are the less %26#39;rapid%26#39; ones.

In Hualien, guess you will be doing Taroko for the day trip. By evening, you should reached Hualien city. Rem to ask Mr Lu to bring you to play fireworks...quite fun, but it takes only a short while...can buy more fireworks if you wan it to last longer..we bought 4 and it only lasted less than 10 min..lol

Also rem to ask him bring you try 炸蛋葱油饼 super nice. The mua chee there too..The rest, Mr Lu will intro to all the nice food there..^_^

Hi,

but who was the Mr Lu that you guys were talking about?

any minsu in hualien that is near to taroko to recommend?

Thank you!
