am going to KS,Tainan,Nantou next monday,24th Nov to Sat,29th Nov.Itinerary includes Sun Moon Lake,Alishan Forest Recreation Area.How are the weather for these 2 places? Thanks

Cold front approaching Taiwan: CWB

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A continental cold air mass is expected to move into Taiwan Friday evening, bringing showers to most parts of the island and sending the mercury down, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said in a forecast yesterday. CWB meteorologists predicted that temperatures in northern, northeastern and central Taiwan could drop to as low as 11 degrees Celsius March 14-15, with the daytime highs varying between 16 and 21 degrees Celsius.

Where to Stay in Cingjing Farm?

hello, can anyone recommend a nice place to stay at Cingjing farm? Homestay/guesthouse type will be nice.

Intend to travel there from Taipei on the 16th, and stay for 1 night, before moving on to Sun Moon Lake. I%26#39;ve settled accomodation at SML, but need to find accomodation at Cingjing soon.

And, how do I get to Cingjing Farm from Taipei?

i think i have the same problem as U. But i do read somewhere in the forum on the methods to go there i.e. by bus. Unfortunately, i m still figuring out how to plan the routes. cos someone said that u will pass by chingjing farm when u go sml. So i really dont know whether to go chingjing first or sml. I will be booking for spa home at sml. wat abt U?

You will pass Cingjing Farm if you are traveling from Eastern Taiwan (Hualien) through the winding Central Mountains highway route. If you are coming from Central Taiwan (Taichung), go to Puli town first. Proceeding eastwards (about an hour bus ride) you will reach Cingjing Farm. Heading southwards of Puli (about 30 mins bus ride) you will reach Sun Moon Lake.

I need some advise on how to travel from Hualian to Taichung or vice versa.

Is there coach or similar transport from Hualian to taichung.

Kindly advise if it is better to go hualian first or taichung ?

there is 豐原bus from taichung to lishan(梨山)(arrival 2:00 pm) via cingjing farm.and 花蓮 bus from lishan(depart 3:00 pm) via Dayu lin,so transfering bus at lishan is possible.

Coz both buses are once a day.confirming with bus companies is recommend.

the bus fare is not cheap ,hiring cabby sometimes is worth to try.

Yes,I think from Taichung to Hailien is more convenient,if you want to cross the Central Mountains in a day by bus.

My first trip to Taiwan for 9 days

Hi,

This is my first trip to Taiwan from 1 May to 9 May via Jetstar. I will be traveling wif my family which include 2 kids of 16 mth n 3 yr old. I need advice on planning the route. These are my places of interest.

(1) Taipei

(2) Nantou for Chingjing Farm for its greenery (Can tell its popularity from here) - 1 night

(3) Sun Moon Lake for Sun Moon Lake of course - 1 night

(4) Hua Lian (unsure since i have kids in tow)

(5) Kaoshiung(i think i read somewhere abt having a place in kaoshiung, famous for their seafood n black tuna sashimi)- 2 nights

(6) we hope to visit the famous ma zu temple too.

Wld appreciate it if some one can tell me the route of traveling i shld plan, say which places to go first follow by the other n back to taipei. The no. of days spend on each places will be informative too. Thanks Thanks.

Planning Taiwan trip for a week (7D) between Apr - Aug

Hi, my friend and I havent been to Taiwan before and would like to visit the country this year for a week (around 7days).

We intend to do free and easy. Can anyone give me some suggestions where/how I shld start my planning? I also have some questions as follow.

When is the best time to visit Taiwan? Perfer cooling weather and limited to Apr - Aug period.

For first timers, is it better to start with Taipei first or the countryside?

If start with Taipei, for a 7D stay, do you think we can cover other nearby areas?

The fastest train from Hualien to Taichung is the Tze Chiang Taroko, with limited runs per day from Hualien to Changhua or Yuanlin, Taichung being one of the stops along the route. The train goes around the tip of the island. (There is no train route across the stunningly beautiful Central Mountain Range.)

I am an american citizen and never have done international travel before so I would appreciate some help. I just got my passport and i read on the state departments site that i dont need a visa goona be there a week is this true? I dont want to get there and get turned away can some one tell me the process upon arrival.
