These places have nice public areas, quite inexpensive. However the One next to the Museum is really very Cheap, about NTD40/. You need your Swimsuit, Swim cap e.t.c.

You can buy them at a Hypermarket like Carrefour, RT Mart e.t.c.

Beitou hotspring

Beitou Hot Spring Museum was formerly a hot spring public bath built by Taiwan’s Japanese colonial government in 1913. In 1997, the public bath was transformed into a two-storey museum exhibiting old photographs, information and antique hot spring articles and equipment. You can learn about the history of the hot springs in Beitou and other parts of the world.

Hi, everyone

I would like to check if any one has stayed in this hot spring hotel?

太平洋北投溫泉渡假飯店

地址:台北市北投區奇岩路1號

網址:www.pacifichotel.com.tw

I am thinking of including this place in my itinerary, is it a good choice?

I hope someone can give me some feedback on this hotel.

Thanks in advance

I jus came back from Taipei. We visited Whispering Inn and Spring City Resort. We liked Spring City. We paid NT$780 per person for private hot spring (usage 1 hr) + afternoon tea. The 1 hr usage is just right for us as u cant soak too long anyway. It%26#39;s just a small bath area with the sunken bath and bathing facilities. The tea itself can be a meal - with soup, main course, dessert and coffee/tea, and it%26#39;s nice. We think it%26#39;s cheap considering the tea included. Can chk out the website if they post pics of the private hot spring bath.

Too bad I din bring along my swim suit cos in the hotel, there%26#39;s also the open air hotsrping with jacuzzi. The rate i think shd be NT$800 per adult.

However, it is not near the MRT... so gotta walk a distance. Way back, can take their free shuttle bus down to the MRT at Beitou (not sure if u can try calling them if they pick guests up from the station).

Whispering Inn traditional japanese style hotel, we din like the room as they only have min 3 hrs package and the room was like stuffy, and the hot bath was in the toilet with no window, which din look relaxing enough for us, and not cheap too.

Hope it helps.

NT780 per person is quite reasonable, I think its about $35, to think that it includes a meal. Okay, I will consider, need to check out their website first. Thanks for your info.. guest you must have enjoyed your trip, care to share with us your experience in TW?

Hi, we have just got back from Taipei. It was not a long walk from Beitou station. It is mere 10-15 minutes walk only. You can stop by at a Minority Cultural Centre, Ketalagan while on the way up . On the way, you can visit museum about hot spring.

We went to the public hotspring. We were told it is operated by the government. There was a ';security'; watching to ensure you follow the rules - for users safety. Only NT 40 each. Please remember to bring swimsuit . If you want to put things into a locker, you need to put in syiling to a private locker. You can try hotsprings of different degrees and also, ';cold springs';. We enjoyed it.

If you want some privacy, of course you need to pay more. At the exit of the Beitou station, there is a counter, operating by a private hotspring resort and charging about NT 1100 (if not mistaken) for two persons including meals -ie spaghetti. They will have driver to drive you there , which takes 3 min only. We were told by the operator.

We also visited Wulai hotsprings and it is free . Also Wulai%26#39;s is further, but the view is fanstatic and i think it is more fun there. There was also man-made Sauna shade too. You enjoy hotspring right beside a heavy flowing river. It%26#39;s cool surrounding there.

I definately recommend Wulai %26#39;s hotspring.

Hi, thanks for your info.

Your description on Wulai hot spring sounds rather interesting, especially beside the river, just wondering if it gets too cold when dec time (I%26#39;m going in early dec).

Is there many people sharing the Beitou government public hot spring since it is free?

But I may not have time to visit wulai as I am quite packed with too many interesting places to visit.. ha ha : )

Will try to plan again if I can instead go wulai and skip Beitou or what....

Beitou public hotspring is not crowded because they have a few pools of different degrees.

1st day, went to Wulai Waterfall. We did not go for the hotspring as we intended to try out the hotspring at Beitou. Hmm, we tried the mountain pig sausage and it%26#39;s v tasty... Came back to CKS Memorial Hall MRT, walked over to Din Tai Fung for lunch (v good and attentive service), and to Ice Monster for the huge portion of shaved ice with mango which cost S$7.50. Back to CKS Memorial Hall then to Ximending to shop. Then we proceeded to watch the National Day fireworks display at 8pm. Initially we wanted to catch the change of guards at CKS but learnt that at CKS, only 2 change of guards - 9am and the other later in the day. So, we decided wont purposely go there to catch the change of guard.

Day 2 saw us at the National Palace Museum (really impressed with the jade that was carved like %26#39;san chen rou%26#39;), then back to hotel area at Taipei Main Station, for lunch then to Taipei 101. Nothing much there to shop cos all branded stuff... We din go all the way up for the view but we caught a movie .. hmm, tix were expensive at abt S$14 per pax... thereafter last stop at Raohe NM.

Day 3 we visited Beitou, Danshui, Miramar Ferris Wheel %26amp; Shilin NM. We liked Shilin NM for the variety of shops there.. din finish walking all the shops.

Day 4 took the day trip with cab driver Mr Meeky Yang who brot us to Yeliu (nice!) -Shifen-Jiufen (nice!! had tea at one of the teahouses: sitting alfresco in the chilly weather was really enjoyable) -stop by Huangjing Waterfalls for shot- Bitoujiao for short trail walk-Nanya Qi Yan Shi for shots-Keelung miaokou (NM). We did a quik walk thr Keelung NM and headed back to hotel. We then headed back to Shilin NM to complete the %26#39;tour%26#39; and to taste the Ah Zhong Mian Sian... before we bid goodbye to Taipei...

In all a nice trip for us.

Thanks hcgal for your report. Can see that you must have enjoyed the trip. But a pity you didnt go to the hot spring in Wulai since you are already there hor??

I am also going to Jiufen, Shifen, keelung the norm places, not sure what should I include in this itinerary actully, can I leave it to Meeky Yang to bring me, as I got no idea about the whole place.. Did he plans everything for you, as to where to visit? Looks like I must quickly book him hor, as I can see from the forum, he is the only cabby doing Jiufen lei...
